Just nature....

I have fallen in love with fall this year..... I especially feel it when walking through the Swiss forests, so magical... Beautiful.... Amazing in the way that it makes me wanna believe in fairytales!

Something that I have learned to love about Switzerland is that when a certain vegetable or fruit is in season, that's what you see e v e r y w h e r e !
They throw festivals for it, display it in the stores, and sell it in local village street-markets.
Right now, no one here can have possibly missed that it's pumpkin season ;))

Dear diary...

Today has turned out to be such a special SPECIAL day!!

The kind of day where you have tears running down your face of happiness! The kind of day where you want to litterally SCREAM out your happiness to the entire world.......but that audience doesn't even seem big enough!
Some news came my way today and it's the best I've heard in ages

I AM GOING TO BE AN AUNTIIIIIIIEEEE!!!!

YES! In April and I am so unbelievably happy for my brother Tony and his Josefina!! WHOOOOPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Allthough I just spoke to my brother, I can't even imagine what they are feeling right now... All I can say is that I am soooooo excited for them and I am already starting to imagine what this little person will look like, become, what his or her favourite food
will be, what the first word will be, what I will get him or her for the birthdays to come, when he or she will take his or her first step, if he or she will like cupcakes and so many other things - too many to mention! Wow..................really....WOW!

Tony, Jossan.....with all my heart;
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S !!!

Linda -Lost in a puddle of happy tears.....and in a bubble of adorable little baby thoughts......in Switzerland but SURELY planning a trip to Sweden in April!!!!!

My obsession with nice smells - Part 2

...nope! My obsession hasn't gotten any better and I honestly don't even want to find a cure for this addiction ;)
Instead, I want to shout out to the world to go on a bath-bubble-perfume-soap-wash shopping spree and make this world smell even nicer!!
Having that said, here are some blissful scents for those who'd like to try ;)

1. Philosophy has the most wonderful range of fantastic and sometimes completely appetizing shower-gels, body-lotions and perfumes... These two are my favourite bath-bubbles during fall! Either separately or in combination. Completely delicious!

2. With fall and less light comes the desire for lighting candles in the evening.... As mentioned aswell in a previous post, one of my favourite makers of scented candles are Voluspa.
I can't stand scents that are too heavy and especially for scented candles... These scents are just right (...and the "Santiago Huckleberry" is probably my all-time favourite....)!
3. Victorias Secret's range of lotions, shower-gels and body-sprays are also wonderful, allthough I have to say that a few are just too heavy for my taste. My current favourite smells a little bit like fruity candy and the scent is called "Love spell". Yum!!

4. You should never judge a book by it's cover - but this bottle below can surely be judged exactly by that! I adore this fragrance from Versace and just can't seem to get tired of it. Big plus for the pink colour and the crystal cork ;)))

5. Last but not least.....this is one of my recent favourites from L'occitane - Cherry Blossom!
What can't be seen in this image above, are the bath-pepples and the scented candle which is also absolutely amazing! Oohh-ooohhhh and on their website you can also enjoy their beautiful images of Provence...they're heavenly!

Be nice, play nice and smell nice!! Enjoy ;)

Do a good deed....

...and help people in the world who are less fortunate than you and me! People who would never be able to have this luxury of what for us is simply surfing the web, or any other surfing for that matter....people who are struggling every day to get CLEAN DRINKING WATER while we are all wondering what kind of "artificialized water" to choose in our near-by convenient store....

My favourite singer, the ever so-inspiring Jewel, founded the non-profit organisation
Project clean water, in 1997.
Read more on her web-site and most inportantly DONATE!
You don't have to be rich to give-a-little! Maybe just skip your Starbucks coffe for a couple of days, have a week free of sweets (this will do your own body good aswell ;)) or maybe skip those beers or glasses of wine you had planned tonight and give a little love to the world instead?
There will be more opportunities for all those more trivial things I'm sure ;)

Donations can be made online here www.giveadrop.com
or by sending it here:

Thanks for listening! I hope you'll enjoy to give a little.... I did for sure!
I know I can't save the world on my own - but I can surely help and so can you ;)

Empathy Love Life Happiness Wisdom

I have recently had so many feelings of sadness.....not really for myself, but for people I care about.

In my mind, empathy is one of the most important attributes a person can possess!
Why? Well....because empathy is the ability to feel for others. Sure it can bring you down at times when people around you are sad, hence the sadness I'm feeling right now....but the fantastic thing is that when they are happy, truly HAPPY - so are you!! Genuinely, without envy....just ridiculously happy for someone else! THAT is important and it's a truly beautiful thing... This ability to feel for others enables happiness even when it doesn't come from your own fortunes and I don't know about you - but I don't feel like my own fortune grow on trees ;)

Naturally this sadness that surrounds me has also made me wonder, why is it so difficult to find happiness sometimes? Why is it so hard to see beyond misery? Why can't we see the lack of sunshine as the sun just hiding behind those clouds, taking a nap, just resting for a while and instead only see a dark, threatening cloud preventing the sun to shine? Why can't we learn to appreciate what we have instead of feeling sorry for ourselves for what we don't have? Why can't we manage to see the beauty in eachother and instead dwell on the draw-backs?

Sadly, some people are unhappy because they are afraid of who or what they would become if they weren't.... It's like so many other things that makes us feel safe or comforted even though we are clever enough to know they are not necessarily good for us! Like sugar (Amen! I confess!) or drugs (no way!), or that job or that person in your life that makes you feel like shit that you can't seem to let go of believing that you don't really deserve better? Well you DO deserve better and when you start to believe that - you can also do good for others and inspire them to see their own unique worth.

Lately I've had the good fortune to come across so many words of wisdom from some truly great minds out there! You know the difference of a sentence and words of guidance (much needed) when you read them and they really "hit home"...you know, right on the spot!!
...it makes you feel happy, victorious, triumphant but it can also make you feel nervous, sad or full of regret. Either way, those are the words that will help you move on and move up (or move out? ;)) For me - this is so inspiring and so human!!
Let's face it....we are not alone...many people feel just like YOU feel and I am so happy some of these people share their life learnings and wisdom. It doesn't have to be known philosophers or poets, it doesn't even have to be deliberate or even good-willed! It can be your collegue, or your teacher or maybe even a stranger on the bus that you are overhearing while he/she has a conversation. Anyway - you will know and when you get that feeling, when it hits that spot - use it! That's an opportunity right there!

Here are some quotes and words of wisdom that recently "hit that spot" for me....hoping they might also make someone else take the learning from them:

"The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do" Confucious

"Nothing prevents happiness like the memory of happiness" Fariha Akhlaq

"Life is not a mystery to be solved, but a reality to be experienced" In my daily Facebook fortune cookie

"Be kind to unkind people - they need it more than anybody else" Confucious

"Out of every sorrow, another day will dawn" Eskobar

Deepak Chopra quotes:
"The known is the prison of past conditioning. We must step into the unknown to be free"

"If you don't have a shadow you are standing in darkness"

"You alone are the judge of your worth, and your goal is to discover infinite worth in yourself, no matter what anyone else thinks"

I am not ashamed to say that in most situations, I'd rather be seen as naive than cynical....
I believe if we always see the risk of failure instead of chance of success in every opportunity or if we focus on the obstacles instead of looking for ways around them - we miss out on appreciating life! L I F E !
Why can we never learn that life is precious and that it should never be taken for granted?

Love and regret - these two feelings remind you that you are alive like no other... Which one of these two would you like to be reminded by?

Movie recommendation - Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
5/5

One of my all-time favourite movies!

This is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life.
With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?".
But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating asking the question how could a street kid know so much?

Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show?
When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out. At the heart of its storytelling lies the question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love...

It is rare for me to give a movie the highest rating, which is a 5.......but it would be truly unfair, given the wave of emotions watching this movie brought me, to give it less than 5 stars!
It captures what, for me, movies are all about or at least should be about - an insight into another reality! It sucks you in and inspires....it moved me to laughter and tears!
A movie must really move me in one way or another for it to be interesting and hence, most blockbuster-mainstream-flicks don't stay long in my memory.
This movie was truly amazing!! Danny Boyle (also the director behind Trainspotting & Sunshine) is a true genious....
Don't miss out on this charming, nail-biting, exciting, sad, funny, sweet, romantic, tragic, brilliant, beautiful, wonderful little masterpiece!

Red-carpet-movie-star-palm-tree-sunny-beach: CANNES

It is a wonderful feeling walking on Boulevard de la Croisette, the 12 km, palm-tree-lined avenue just by the sea, with shopping-bags in one hand and your loved one in the other....stopping at one of the little beach-cafe's for an ice
cream or a drink or having lunch in the sunshine while
watching all kinds of people walking by, people playing boule or kids riding on fairy-tale-character-carousels!

I had my best Moules Mariniere EVER and the prices were surprisingly good! In Sweden or Switzerland I am sure I would have payed almost the double... Oooh and that desert I had will stay in my memory (and a +1 size for jeans but oh so worth it ;))) for a long long time! I had a warm chocolate cake, all soft and almost a little runny inside - with a crispy surface served with really delicious vanilla ice cream and vanilla custard.... GAAAAAHHHH!

Another big plus is that the shopping is really great
Beyond my expectation....which was high!
I found most of my favourite brands and stores (a few examples; True religion, Burberry, Sephora, Morgan, Pramod, Gucci, Paul & Joe, 7 for all mankind, Zara, Armani, Mulberry, Accessorize, Ralph Lauren just to mention a few), in less than 30 minutes (just didn't manage to find Betsey Johnson or Alice+Olivia??) and also found some new favourites. Manoush is something I will watch closely going forward for sure ;)) Amazing little creations!! I think if you just check out the front of their home-page, you might instantly find the feeling I had when I entered the little shop: http://www.manoush.com/

"Cannes, of course, is famous the world over for its International Film Festival, which sees the city’s population treble overnight. For 12 days in May, Cannes becomes the centre of the cinematic universe. Over 30.000 producers, distributors, directors, publicists, star and hanger-on descend to buy, sell or promote more than 2000 films. As the premier film event of the year, it attracts some 4000 journalists from around the world, guaranteeing a global spotlight to anyone with enough looks or prestige to grab it!" (source: http://www.platinium-ca.com/SightSeeing/cannes.htm)

I am not really star-struck easily, but must admit I felt a kind of weird excitement walking around in the area around the Grand auditorium, watching the hand-prints and autographs of some of my favourite actors and directors......after all - these people have had a huge influence in my life as I've spent countless hours taking in impressions from things THEY have created or characters THEY have portrayed ;))
Another fantastic thing about the area around Cannes is the Massif de l'Estérel , which is basically a range of red-rock volcanic mountains by the sea! Really really beautiful!! Unfortunately the sun was playing a little hide-and-seek the entire afternoon, so I didn't manage to capture it's beauty entirely.....you will just have to trust me, see the pictures below or Google it ;)!

I give Cannes 4/5 palm-trees!!
(if it wasn't for the 3 out of 4 days of rain, it might have gotten a 5 ;))!

If you go or if you've already been there, let me know your thoughts and your tips as I will surely go back!!

xox
Linda - Lost in Switzerland again but previously lost on a make-believe-red-carpet-ride in Cannes.....aaaahhhhh!

You know that feeling!!?

..yeah, you know? That feeling of being connected to yourself, your mind, your heart and your soul? Vivid! Inspired!

Why? Well maybe it was the iron slash vitamin B12 infusion I got at the doctors office this morning, or maybe it is the fact that I've had a very good day at work? Possibly (surely) it has a lot to do with spending some really happy days away from "reality" by being on holiday with my LOVE.... Or maybe (or should I say very likely ;)) it's also knowing that in two weeks time I will be going home HOME HOME HOME (!!!) for a week to spend some much needed time with people I love so dearly and miss so intensly ....daily ...constantly!? My friends and my family!!! ♥♥♥

Wow! What an incredibly powerful feeling it is when you have been away from the ones who are closest to your heart for 3-12 months and then knowing that you will FINALLY see eachother again! It is completely and utterly overwhelming emotions that simply takes over and spins you around! I can barely fall asleep...it makes me cry those really happy tears!! I have butterflies in my belly!
Anticipation... So much anticipation!!!

There is really no way for me to rank who I miss the most or why... I miss all my friends and everyone in my family, all in diffrent and unique ways ♥♥♥
....but this time going home will be a liiiiiiittle extra special... I will see my ex "niece and nephew in law" (Enzo & Nelly ♥♥♥) and their mother, my friend Patricia who I also miss so dearly!! There are truly no words that can describe how much I've missed them! I have known these kids their whole life up until one year ago.......and I haven't seen them since
(only in pictures). I can assure you that not many days have passed without that hurting a little...without that instant feeling of sadness in ones heart when you're missing someone so much that it litterally hurts......if you've ever felt it you will know what I'm talking about....and now I will get to spend 3 days with them! I can't wait!!! I am so excited that my heart is JUMPING!

Those are the feelings.....inspiration, anticipation, love, happiness and sadness - all wrapped up together in a biiiiiiiig bubble that is my heart....about to burst!! That's how I feel right now..........
I am going home!!

"You may be one person to the world but you may be the whole world to one person" Anonymous

The ones I love are truly my world!!!
I hope you all know that and if you don't - then I am telling you now and will hopefully soon get a chance to tell you face to face; You are all unique, I love you and you mean the whole world to me!
...regardless if you are close to me and I see you almost every day or if you are miles and miles away...

To all of you; Take care of your hearts and your sweethearts!! ♥♥♥ You are the whole world to someone just as someone is the whole world to you.

HAPPINESS

Coucouuu!

"Reporting", live from the KLM lounge at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam ;)
Bored (as I've been here already for an hour while my flight leaves in yet another two hours) and tired....but still HAPPY....for a number of reasons actually...

I am happy because I just realised 30 minutes ago that I'm now actually officially on HOLIDAY until Tuesday!! YAY! Currently celebrating with a glass of red (alone with my laptop, the wine and a quite heavy back-pack as my sole companions....and a bunch of strangers of course).

I am happy because I will be spending the next 4 days in Cannes with my loved one and even though I know the weather forecast says rain, I will able to relax, be near the ocean and most importantly, spend some quality time with my darling!!!!

I am happy because I have today booked a long weekend in Sweden (!!!!!!!!) in the beginning of October (5-11th)!

....happy because, allthough this is also a little bit scary, it became official last Friday that my manager is leaving and I will be taking over parts of her role (NO I am not replacing her), which means new challenges (...and I thrive on new challenges!)!

Of course, this is also a bit sad because we will be loosing such an amazing chunk of knowledge
and personality in our team, but I know she really needed the new challenge and so I am happy for her ;)

On top of this, I am happy as I'm arranging a Halloween party this year and if you have followed my blog or know me personally, you will know that I LOVE MASQURADES!!! I can't reveal any details of what or who I plan to dress up as.........it will be a "Best dressed competition"!!
I do promise pictures afterwards though ;))

If you "Wikipedia" the word happiness, this is what you will find:
"Happiness is a state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, love, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy.

A variety of philosophical, religious, psychological and biological approaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources. Philosophers and religious thinkers often define happiness in terms of living a good life, or flourishing, rather than simply as an emotion".

I really believe life is good right now......and it's not just an emotion....not saying I have nothing to be unhappy about - but I choose to focus on the good things!

I will not forget about the bad things, but simply choose to leave the more unhappy or less pleasant parts of life to rest for a while. Why? Because life is too short to dwell on things you can not change. It sucks the life out of you! But the things you CAN change - do your utmost to get out of misery... Life is too precious to waste on wondering why you weren't offered a promotion instead of him or her, or why you weren't born with the perfect body, or why you can't get everybody to like you, or why you never win the lottery.... I will certainly complain at times, this is my right....no one is perfect and this is a big part of humanity!

But what I WON'T do is sit around and wait for HAPPINESS to just land on my lap! I already know it won't....unless you're one of a lucky few...and we can discuss those mathematical chances or odds for a while if you like, but I wouldn't want to waste my time on that either. I already know that the chances are slim ;)
Go out there and get that, him, her or whatever else! Kill 'em with a SMILE! Stay positive! Believe in yourself!! Believe that you can do anything! YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH! Aim for the stars!! Maybe you'll only reach the moon or the clouds - but so what? At least you will never have to spend your older years wondering "what if" or asking yourself "why didn't I"? At least YOU can say "I tried my best". Just remeber to choose your battles ;) Don't waste energy on trivial things.... What is important to YOU? What is on your "Bucket list"?

Dare to dream....dare to try and fail! What makes YOU happy?? GO GO GOOOO!
You can get over disappointment....you won't be the first or last ;))

I know I am repeating myself now - but seriously! "Try and fail - but don't fail to try"! We are all human....there is nothing to be ashamed of and we can never know how much time we have. What are YOU waiting for?

Quoting Deepak Chopra (again...he is great!) :
"In every moment of our existence, we are in that field of all possibilities where we have access to an infinity of choices."

Mint and vintage choices for fall 2009 - Part two: Bags!

Well hello there beautiful people!
How nice of you to drop by ♥♥♥
I hope you are having a lovely Sunday so far!!

I have to say my day has been wonderful......kind of the perfect fall Sunday... Slept in 'til around 11, had a lovely strawberry pancake & melon-fruit-salad breakfast with my usual half a pot of coffee. The weather was cool and dull (around 17c), so relaxed and surfed a little while for BAGS (and as you can hopefully see, this session was successful ;))....the weather got better so we went for a walk in the beautiful Swiss forest and had a little photo-shoot (a couple of them are on Twitpic, so you can see them to the right)! So much fun!! Incredible golden light........Was quite freezing though - so when we got back I warmed myself with a BIIIIG cup of chili-spiced-hot-chocolate..... YUM!! Started to watch the movie "Gigantic" but was in a little bit too bouncy kind of mood for such a slow film so decided to listen to some cool music and blog instead (currently hearing the sound of Santogold's "Lights out"! Fab! You can find it in my mixpod player). Oh yes....very happy about this day....

Made a selection of bags for this season....some classics, some vintage, from cheap to ridiculously expensive! My favourites out of these are the Mulberry Bayswater bag (such a classic), the "May the force be with you" shopper by the talented Maddie (you can read her blog by clicking the link on the right-hand-side of my blog and check out more of her stuff in her Etsy-shop!) and last but not least; the CUPCAKE bag ♥♥♥ by Judiet Leiber - to die for (buuuut unfortunately in the ridiculously expensive range)!!!!! I hope you enjoy....

...remember that "flawless" is for things - not for people ;))
Peoples flaws are sometimes what makes them so unknowingly beautiful and a big part of what makes them unique ♥♥♥

Words, emotions, impressions, learnings, inspiration and an upcoming trip to Cannes!

The past few weeks of my life have been more than I can describe in a simple blog-post, but here are some words to give you a picture: hectic, fun, horrible, happy, excitement, strange, sweet, nervous, anger, loveliness, opportunity, beautiful, hunger, injustice, worried, l♥ve, misery, moved, disappointment, music, laughter, fear, magic, tired, curious, pain, fantastic, tears, funny, surprising....... If there were enough words in my vocabulary I think I could honestly go on forever!

During the past few weeks I have discovered quite a lot about myself and also about other people....some really new and surprising things - but some just confirming my previous impressions.
Some really great discoveries! ...but also some where I had convinced myself that my "less-good-kind-impression" of something or someone or a situation was just me feeling insecure, or tired, or hormonal or even just bored, just to then turn out to be so disappointingly correct.
...disappointment....oh yes! But you know what?? What I really LOVE about all these weird experiences is that this is really LIFE! This is what it's supposed to be... To feel things and to experience things and trust me, lately I have felt and experienced quite a lot...and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I'm not sure why we keep calling this "such a cliché" when it's so amazingly true "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
Sure....let's not be naive... Some scars never heal completely - but do you honestly have a scar, physical or emotional, that you didn't learn something from? A scar that didn't make you think about or feel about something diffrently?

Right now I am exhausted, physically and emotionally, so now it's time to re-charge those batteries.....
A long weekend trip to Cannes is booked for next weekend and I am psyched!!!
Sandy beaches, palmtrees, my loved one, the ocean, sunsets, sunrises, fine wine and did I mention sunshine? Aaahhhh..... Vive la France! (Oh...yeah...if it's raining - I can use the "Things to do when it's raining" blog-post to guide me ;))

In the top of my top-list of things I appreciate most in life comes "Being inspired" !
You can find inspiration everywhere when you are open to it. Deepak Chopra says "Inspiration is that state in which mind and heart are connected".
Something that really inspired me today was this positive-thinking poem (thanks again Silvio and your friend Nada):

"Little bird in the sky dropping shit into your eye. You don’t worry You don’t cry You just thank God that cows don't fly" ♥ ♥ ♥

Whenever you feel a little blue - don't forget that after rain comes sunshine......and be inspired by this hilarious little positive thinking poem! Things CAN be worse ;))
..and keep smiling because it makes you beautiful, both inside and outside...
